This year’s annual Cubs’ 5-a-side football tournament held at Pelhams Leisure Centre in Kinson on Friday 28th September.
The weather forecast was, to be honest, not hopeful, but we had 2 Cubs arrive; Leon and Lewis. They joined a combined team of two Cubs each from the 28th, 9th and 24th Bournemouth Groups. Their team name was the ‘Falcons’.
Our first game was at 17:15 against the 37th Typhoons, which we drew 2:2.
Then, at 17:45, we played the 21st Panthers, losing 1:0.
At 18:15 we were against the 21st Lions, winning 3:0.
The final qualifying match was at 19:15 against the 8th Cheetahs, which we won 1:0.
This was followed by a chilly and rather tense wait, while the final matches finished and the semi-final teams were announced. Finally, they were, and we had made it!
We played the 8th Pumas in the semi-final and they played well, beating us 5:0.
However, the best part of the evening was how well the three Cub packs played as a team, especially as they had never even met before. Well Done!
